How to Boost Your Metabolism to Lose Weight!
Learning how to boost your metabolism to lose weight is very important if you really want to achieve your weight loss goal.
Honestly, this weight loss journey is a challenge for sure. It’s one that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster worthy of a theme park!
And for most of us, the reason we are not losing weight is simply because of sluggish metabolism.
Now, we may not understand a lot about it, but the truth is that you cannot lose weight if you have a low metabolic rate.
This is because low metabolism means that your body will not be able to burn off enough calories to enable you lose the weight.
Therefore, since we can all admit that low metabolism is an issue, then how can we solve that problem?
Well, simply put, we need to boost it, get that fire going so that it’ll do its job: BURN FAT!
Below are some simple steps to take to boost your metabolism!
5 Simple Tips on How to Boost Your Metabolism to Lose Weight
#1: Eat Clean, Often and With Water
The more vegetables and fruits you can incorporate into your diet, the better. In addition, it’s time to walk away from that three meal a day religiosity.
You can eat smaller meals, more frequently, so that you don’t experience that overwhelming urge to shovel it in when the hunger pains kick in.
By eating frequently you maintain a feeling of fullness that will help quench your snacking urges. Don’t forget the water, either. Hydration plays a key part in maintaining a healthy metabolism and overall bodily function!
#2: Fast and Cut the Sugar
No doubt this recommendation sends a lot of people over the edge! However, what I propose is that you go on a mini-fast in that you stop eating at 7 pm and you don’t start again until 7 am.
Taking a 12 hour fast like that, each day optimizes digestion and can help you lose weight.
When we tell you to cut the sugar we truly understand the difficulty therein, sugar’s in everything (especially everything that tastes good).
We suggest trying to replace those Hershey-kiss-grabs with berry-herbal tea, chewable vitamin C and yummy veggies (convince yourself they’re yummy!).
Oh, and don’t skip breakfast (that’ll help keep your blood sugar balanced thereby aiding in curbing the sugar cravings).
#3. Think Tea, Spice and Caffeine!
Indeed, green tea has been shown to have metabolism boosting qualities. So, add that to your grocery shopping list! While you’re there, pick up cayenne pepper, which contains capsaicin.
Capsaicin is believed to positively enhance metabolism, plus it’ll add a little fire to your life!
Thankfully, there have been studies that imply that delicious cup ‘o’ joe, is worth the time to make (with or without a Keurig).
Basically, the caffeine therein is absorbed quickly and can increase heart rate and give you a metabolism boost that waits for three hours before it peaks!
#4. Intensity, Iron and Cardio
We could just say exercise but that seems so bland. In fact, there are specific aspects of exercise that are more useful than others!
Quick and intense bursts of activity jump start our metabolism and keep us burning calories long after we’ve quit working out.
Pump some iron while you’re attempting to insert exercise into your daily life. Lifting weights will help you boost your resting metabolic rate because building muscles means more calories burned to use them.
Muscles work (even when we’re still); fat just hangs out (or over)!
Cardio is important too though, so don’t forsake the bike or the treadmill. Research has shown that 45 minutes on a bike can boost metabolism for up to 12 hours! Breathing hard isn’t just good for your heart!
#5. Sleep and Laugh
We saved this one for last because we all know how much we love to sleep. Amazingly, researchers have discovered that a lack of sleep equates with a lowered metabolism.
No wonder people in countries that include nap time in the work place are considerably skinnier than we are in America!
Finally, laugh, laugh, laugh. Look, if you can’t laugh through this journey, you’ll be one miserable dieter!
We know weight loss isn’t fun, that fasting and eating asparagus isn’t at the top of anyone (normal)’s list; but laughter, that is indeed the best medicine!
Simple Doesn’t Mean Easy
While it’s pretty simple to buy the right foods and put them in your mouth, it’s not as easy to convince yourself that you want to. The same goes for eliminating nightly snacks and excessive sugar intake.
It probably goes without saying that it’s really simple to join a gym and not nearly as easy to make yourself get up and go. As with every aspect of weight loss, motivation and devotion are key.
